Lisa Papp wrote a wonderful book about a little girl that has trouble reading out loud in class. This book will hopefully encourage and inspire children who struggle with reading.
It is so easy for children and adults who struggle to read to just give up. It is difficult to get help and it can be so discouraging to try as hard as you can and still be unable to grasp something. There are not enough books written that encourage out of the box thinking to help children with any learning disabilities meet their own goals.
And that is one thing I love the most about this book. It’s Madeline’s own goal, getting a star sticker, that she works to meet. It isn’t about test scores or some other goal set for her by someone else. It’s so important for kids to set their own goals and work toward those. That is what will teach kids life skills.
This is such an important book for kids to read. Even those without learning disabilities or difficulties could learn what it’s like to have those difficulties and may learn to be more sensitive toward other kids.
If you’d like to buy Madeline Finn and the Library Dog you can do so on October 1st at your favorite bookseller.
