This book lists the 100 Greatest TV shows of all time. Well, in the author’s opinions based on their rating methods and limited to American shows (excluding game shows, talk shows, variety shows and reality shows).
I don’t actually agree with a lot of the choices in this book. How I Met Your Mother and Friends should be waaaaay higher on the list and Lost and The X Files should be lower. Don’t get me wrong I was the biggest X Phile back in the day and I still love the show but the 7th, 8th and 9th seasons were not good. Lost similarly had a not so great ending. While that doesn’t cheapen how great they were at the start it should put them further down the list from shows like How I Met Your Mother that had a great well thought out ending.
That is my opinion, though. I didn’t write the book and I didn’t come up with their rating method. So, my opinion on what should be where on the list doesn’t mean much, I suppose.
As for the book itself, it gets a bit long winded but if you enjoy in depth discussion of television shows then it’s probably worth a read. As is clear from my blog I do like in depth television show discussions. So, I enjoyed the book.
If you’re more of a casual TV viewer then this book probably isn’t for you.
If you’d like to buy TV (The Book) you can do so right now at your favorite book seller.
