Book Review: Guillermo Del Toro: At Home With Monsters by Guillermo Del Toro

Guillermo Del Toro’s book is everything you expect. Photos of his awesome collection of macabre memorabilia, his own art, sketches and journals and well as interviews and commentary.

The book was a companion to a traveling art exhibit. Both have gotten mixed reviews but most of the buzz I had heard was positive.

I personally enjoyed the book. I’m a big Guillermo Del Toro fan and this look inside his mind and work was amazing. I think most big fans would also enjoy it.

Those who aren’t fond of his films and who are not fans of dark art or Gothic imagery would likely be best to skip this. Even casual fans of his films may not find much of interest in this book.

It IS an odd book.

If you’d like to purchase it and find out for yourself you can do that now at your favorite bookseller.

*I received this book free of charge in exchange for an honest review*

  1. Thank you for the post. How is the book book different from Cabinet of Curiosities? Does is contain more of del Toros awesome sketches, or does it also have concept designs by other artists? 🙂
